Written by Boris Bergman:

While walking in the palace of the memories with E. Papathanassiou we met Mr. Thomas... who, being a newspaper salesman, only gives children good news... The Thomas with the top hat on which the birds from the river all gather. The Thomas of whom it is said his head was made of straws.

We saw the shepherd who wanted to carry the moon in his arms and who, seeing it resting in a puddle, wanted to catch it and drowned... That was why the gods placed the moon high up in the sky so that no man would be tempted to steal it.

The town’s fool told us: "they say I am still a child... a fool, but today is my birthday and it might just be that they will not make fun of me !... " I hear the children sing "Look, see old Benji… a child who is 30 years old who would jump all dressed into the pool if someone told him there was a treasure."
I like Candy a lot… She sees what I see… She plays with me… And she smells as nice as the trees. They say I’m still a child…"

Then we went down to the valley of sadness... the valley where the mountains and the plains around gather to cry as the men deserted them… They wanted to see the capital… They were told life would be easier there... Their steps left footprints on the earth… and from these prints grew a river... We call it the valley of sadness.
In another room in the palace Demis (the singer) with the help of Lucas (the drummer) mixed the rhythm with the movement he gave the words, and you would be led to believe the language of Shakespeare became the language of Man.

END OF THE WORLD

You should come with me to the end of the world
without telling your parents and your friends
You know that you only need
say a word
So end my play with thy
end of the world

But I know
that I'll go... away by myself
I feel you don't want to come

You should come with me to the end of the world
We could lie all day on the quiet sands
I would introduce you to my friend the bird
who sings and flies along the fairy strand

But I know
that I'll go... away by myself
I feel you don't want to come

he---e, ha---a

If you come with me to the end of the world
I'll give you anything that lives on earth

You know that you only need
say a word
So we might live at the end of the world

What I know
that I'll go... away by myself
I feel you don't want to come

he---e, ha---a

DON'T TRY TO CATCH A RIVER

When she flows
(Don't try to catch a river)
No one will ever catch her.
When love goes,
(don't try to catch your lover)
For love is a kind of river,

River flows over rocks and walls,
and I'd like to know why,
She seems to be  far away from the sky.

When she flows,
(Don't try to catch a river)
No one will ever catch her.
When love goes,
(Don't try to catch your lover)
For love is a kind of river.

Lovers leave their girls at sunrise,
and I'd like to know why,
They seem to be so ashamed of the size,

Don't you try
Don't you try
Don't you try
Don't you try

River
River
River

When she flows,
(Don't try to catch a river)
No one will ever catch her.
When love goes,
(Don't try to catch your lover)
For love is a kind of river.

River carries along dead leaves,
And I'd like to know why,
Why don't lovers bring along wounded hearts.

River
River
River

Oehh ... River...
Oehh ... River...
River...

MISTER THOMAS

A friend who's got daisies in his pocket

Mr. Thomas owns a red bike
and his heart flies like a kite
He gives a coin to the children,
who play war with wooden guns

Mr. Thomas remains at home
when other people go to church
In his [chest above] the phone
Round [it's edge] things always merge

Mr. Thomas gives in his newspapers
but to me good news
when the hills do glitter the river,
where all can choose

my grand uncle
when he sees him says "he's crazy"
and starts to grin
my little lady poor Mc Kinball says:
"his head is made of straw"

Mr. Thomas gives in his newspapers
but to me good news
when the hills do glitter the river,
where all can choose

[Interlude]

I know there's one arms corps keeper
Is quite eager, do you know why ?
all the blue birds from the river
on his top hat [gobble / come] and fly

Mr. Thomas gives in his newspapers
but to me good news
when the hills do glitter the river,
where all can choose

I like to be the bounty clown
Who seems so glad in his watch
I would be always around him
so that I could walk his path

Mr. Thomas gives is his newspapers
but to me good news
when the hills do glitter the river,
where all can choose

RAIN AND TEARS

Rain and tears, are the same
but in the sun
you've got to play the game

When you cry
in winter time
you can pretend
it's nothing but the rain

How many times I've seen
tears coming from your blue eyes

Rain and tears, are the same
but in the sun
you've got to play the game

[interlude]

Give me an answer of love
(o----ooohhh)
I need an answer of love
(o----ooohhh)
Rain and tears in the sun
But in your heart
you feel the rainbow waves

Rain and tears
both I shun
for in my heart there 'll never be a sun

Rain and tears, are the same
but in the sun
you've got to play the game
Game...

THE GRASS IS NO GREEN

The land is starving
it needs watering
The birds on the trees
won't open the spring
for the rain won't fall here
and the grass is no green

The birds stop singing
they need some raining
the birds on the trees
will not live till spring
for the rain won't falling
and the grass is no green
the grass is no green
the grass is no green
the grass is no green

Deep in a clearing
lovers are sleeping
under an oak tree
wind blows lightly
while they are lying
where the grass is no green

[interlude]

The land is starving
it needs watering
The birds on the trees
won't open the spring
for the rain won't falling

and the grass is no green
the birds stop singing
they need some raining

The birds on the trees
will not live till spring
and the grass is no green
the grass is no green
the grass is no green
the grass is no green

Deep in a clearing
lovers are sleeping
under an oak tree
wind blows lightly
while they are lying
where the grass is no green

The birds stop singing
they need some raining
the birds on the trees
will not live till spring
for the rain wouldn't falling

And the grass is no green
the grass is no green
the grass is no green
the grass is no green

VALLEY OF SADNESS

When I left the valley of sadness
When I left the valley of sadness
I saw the mountains
of the plains around
gathering to cry

When I left the valley of sadness
When I left the valley of sadness
I saw the mountains
of the plains around
gathering to cry

I saw a young bride in a white dress
picking up stones along the way
I saw children climbing the path
naked in the sun of May
and I saw the river flowing
oooooh
and I heard the tulips crying
oooooh

They call it the valley of sadness
They call it the valley of sadness
They left the mountains and the plains around
this is why it cries

They call it the valley of sadness
They call it the valley of sadness
They left the mountains and the plains around
this is why it cries

They wanted to see the head town
They have been told the life is easier
First steps made arose in the ground
from the grounds and up the river
when I heard the river flowing
oooooh and I saw the furrows bleeding
oooooh

[interlude]

I saw the mountains
of the plains around
gathering to cry

They left the mountains and the plains around
this is why it cries

YOU ALWAYS STAND IN MY WAY

Hey you
You always stand in my way

You
will you hear to what I say?
I want you to go away

You
You should find another man

I say you
make my face become one
I want you to cut it down

You, you, you
get away
I can't stand you,
you, you
I am mad when I see you
you, you you
better hide or clutch your face

You
you come on and change your mind

Say you
You're the one I must cement
and what if I don't want you

You
You always stand in my way

And I said you
Will you hear to what I say
And I want you to go away

You you, you
get away
I can't stand you,
you you

I am mad when I see you
You, you better pack up all your things
and I, I, I feel like chewing so I'm getting mad,
baby

And I said you
you, you always stand in my way
(better not)

You
will you hear to what I say
I want you to go away

You
you should find another man
I said you
make my face become one
I want you to cut it down

you, you, you
got a way I can't stand
you you, you, you
get away
I can't stand

you
You you you better hide and clutch your face
And I, I, I feel it
You better say
you, you, you

THE SHEPHERD AND THE MOON

Do you know the story of the shepherd
who did try and took the [river?] moon in his arms
Listen to the story
mainly if you can agree
of the man who loved the woman

You can tuck it up in your mind
you would like to catch the moonlight
But you know the thing is not right
For all of us have some secrets to hide

Do you know the story of the shepherd
who did try and took the [river?] moon in his arms
Listen to the story
mainly if you can agree
of the man who loved the woman

Woman was a sting in the thorn
you will get the moon for your horn
you try to cheat and you'll drown
of the moon you were much too full

[interlude]

Nowadays
people of the mountains say:

"That the Gods put the moon high up in the sky
so that the men might not be tempted to steal it"

Do you know the story of the shepherd
who did try and took the [river?] moon in his arms
Listen to the story
mainly if you can agree
of the man who loved the woman

Round in the depths of your mind
for today the moon is too high
shepherd tried to catch a sunrise
you might be more lucky if you try

Do you know the story of the shepherd
who did try and took the [river?] moon in his arms
Listen to the story
mainly if you can agree
of the man who loved the woman

la, la la la ...

DAY OF THE FOOLS

I am but a fool they say
something like a child
but today is my birthday
and they will be nice
I'm but your fool they say
true that's what I think
My mind is drifting away
I feel that I sink....

See Benji is a fool
a child who's 30 years old
who would  go dressed in the pool
They are telling him there is gold
See Benji...

Candy is a friend of mine
She sees what I see
She knows what's up in my mind
She won't laugh at me
Candy is a friend of mine
She sees what I see
Sometimes we play seek and hide
she makes me happy

Candy, Candy
Candy is a friend of mine
I like the touch of her voice
Candy

But today is my birthday
and they might be nice
She knows what's up in my mind
she smells like a tree

See old Benji is a fool
a child who's 30 years old
who would go dressed in the pool
They are telling him there is gold

See Benji,
just look at him
Candy, Candy

I'm but a fool they say
Something like a child
But today is my birthday
and they will be nice
I'm but your fool they say
true that's when I think
My mind is drifting away

I feel that I, I'll sink ....
